PATRONS
Joan Leslie
Joan was the first Tutor to work at the Hills Youth Theatre, writing and directing many classic shows as well as her famously hilarious pantomimes. Retiring from her position in 2004 after 18 years, she continued to be intrinsic to HYT, mentoring the new tutors and making guest appearances in classes. Joan taught and directed with enthusiasm, wisdom and dedication, imparting her wealth of knowledge and love of theatre unto her students, many of whom have found successful careers in the performing arts. Joan sadly passed away in 2018, but she is remembered by all as the life blood of HYT and a true originator of the community spirit and passion for theatre that remains so important to us today.
Sanchia Scott
Sanchia is one of the original founders of the Hills Youth Theatre, being the first, along with Didy Pederick, to lobby for the establishment of a youth theatre in the Hills. In 1986, she became the first chairperson of the HYT committee, and remained a member of the committee for several years thereafter, and was instrumental in creating the HYT constitution. More than 30 years later, Sanchia continues to give her ongoing support to HYT and all that we do.
Didy Pederick
Having campaigned with Sanchia Scott for the formation of a youth theatre in the Hills, Didy is one of the original founding members of HYT. She was the first secretary for HYT in 1986, and became the chairperson in the following year. Didy's children were some of the very first students to enrol at HYT, and with the recent enrolment of her granddaughter, Didy's family demonstrates their love and never-ending commitment to our community.
Leith Pederick
Husband of Didy Pederick, Leith was an original founder of the Hills Musical Company, with whom we share the use of the Stirling Community Theatre. Leith avidly backed the formation of the Hills Youth Theatre and always supported us at an upper management level. Leith and his family continue to show their ever-appreciated patronage to HYT.
